Your driveshaft carries the power of your engine between the transmission and the differential. If you know or suspect driveshaft problems, it’s important to get it fixed before the problem becomes worse and the driveshaft fails.

At AAMCO, we’re the transmission experts, and that extends to driveshafts as well. Please call (972) 633-1590(972) 633-1590 FREE or email AAMCO Transmission and Auto Repair of Plano today for an appointment.

Signs You Might Have a Driveshaft Problem

The driveshaft runs from the transmission to the differential, so it can be hard to distinguish sounds from these three components. However, here are some basic things to watch for:

  • Squeaking under the car that begins as you accelerate
  • Shudder as the car accelerates from stop or low speed
  • A clunking noise when your car shifts gears
  • Knocking or clicking noises
  • Roughness or vibration at any speed

If you experience any of these things, you may need a driveshaft repair.

Expert Driveshaft Repair

At AAMCO, our driveshaft repair experts understand how to properly diagnose problems anywhere in your drive train and we will not begin a repair until we have identified what exactly is wrong with your car.

Often, the problem is just a driveshaft that needs lubrication. Other times, the U-joints at either end of the shaft may need to be replaced, and sometimes the constant-velocity (CV) joint. Rarely is it necessary to replace the driveshaft itself.

Once we make repairs, they will be backed by our exclusive AAMCO Service Warranty.

As with many car problems, if ignored a driveshaft problem will get worse and further damage to the driveshaft, transmission, and differential may result.

If you suspect or have been told you have a driveshaft problem bring it to the transmission experts. Please contact AAMCO Transmission and Auto Repair of Plano to schedule an appointment today.
